Let’s Celebrate September 30

As I took on some mundane tasks this morning, my mind was searching for something that would give me a break – just a short one, please, from the political.

I need something to celebrate. So, what better place to go than a search for what to celebrate today – every day seems to have a designated celebrant. Jackpot! September 30 is a busy day. I can celebrate multiple designates. Here goes:

International Podcast Day

Likely the newest designee. I’ll join in this celebration. Here are a few I enjoy:

  • TrailRUNNER NATION I love the energetic discussion on this podcast. I’m off from trail running for the foreseeable future, but I can still enjoy the chatter.
  • Mean Book Club – That is exactly it. If you love books and snarky discussion of same, this is for you.
  • Duolingo These are great tales of real people told in the language of your choosing. I have listened in French and Spanish and found them really interesting. Even though I don’t understand everything, there is a voice to coach me through.

National Chewing Gum Day – I’m not celebrating this one. Chewing gum earned me a demerit in ninth grade.

National Mud Pack Day celebrates treating your skin to various muddy products. Application of mud packs is said to relieve tension, improve skin and give a real boost to our well-being. Sounds like a great idea, but I don’t have a mud pack handy. I will save it for another day.

National Hot Mulled Cider Day is worth celebrating, but I would recommend moving this one to mid-October when the temps have dropped another degree or two and it can be enjoyed after corralling the fallen leaves.

National Women’s Health and Fitness Day is designated to focus attention on the importance of regular physical activity and health awareness for women. I’m onboard with this one. In fact, I’m in favor of celebrating this every day. Even on a day when I really don’t feel like doing anything, doing just one thing, even a simple stretch, helps my body and mind.

National Love People Day Now, this is a designated day really needed. The purpose of the day is to show love to everyone – no exceptions. National Love People Day tasks us to display unconditional love, which many have never experienced.

Well, that’s enough celebrating for me. Before September 30 slips away, I’m going for a walk/run and send loving vibes to everyone – and everything – I encounter along the way. And may those vibes expand into October.
